Upgrade to "Stems 4 Ableton" feature

I would like to be able to use DJ.Studio’s "Stems 4 Ableton" feature to create Stems for mixing and DJing with Ableton.

DJ.Studio does a great job at "warping" (Ableton's name for beat gridding) and I would like to take advantage of these in my work with Abelton without losing the warp markers when e.g. combining drums, bass, and melody into an instrumental song plus vocals

Unfortunately I have not found an easy way of combining Stems in Ableton without losing the warp markers generated by DJ.Studio.

My suggestions for options at the right click menu in DJ.Studio's library export to "Stems 4 Ableton for" are these;

  • Full song export

  • Instrumental song + vocal

  • Groups of Stems (e.g. vocal + drums as one track (with warp markers)

  • Higher bit depth (to prevent clipping when using the Stems for mixing and mashups)

    » the export to Ableton was designed to get fully warped tracks into Ableton, so if that doesn’t work for you, can you contact us at support@dj.studio so we can figure our what is happening in your case?

      Hi Fleur,

      Regarding the request for higher bit depth (to prevent clipping when using the Stems for mixing and mashups).

      From my understanding, when one combines audio where the level is close to 0 dB (like finished mastered songs) and when one only has 16 bit it is easy to exceed 0dB and clip the sound.

      I was in communiqué with Siebrand Dijkstra about this, and he confirmed (after he talked to one of the developers) that this shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish.

      When it comes to exporting Stems from DJ.Studio, this works fine (except the Stems are only 16 bit).

      I’m trying to come up with a workflow that would make it easy to export an a cappella and an instrumental version of a song with the same quantisation (Warping) so that they can be played separately or combined (when combined they should sound like the original song, i.e. in sync) when DJing with Ableton Live.

      So my request, from the Stems export to also have the options to export an instrumental version, an a cappella version or both instrumental and a cappella version of a song (with the same quantisation).
