UI Improvements

I’m still new to DJ.Studio. There’s a lot that I like about the app, but there are certain things which have been a source of frustration. I understand that this is a young effort, so I’m excited to see how things develop. It’s clear constant improvements are being made.

I would like to see more UI customisation features. Version 3.0 has made some great changes. The sidebar is more logical, for example. However, I still feel that more progress could be made. I would like to have to have more control over what appears in my sidebar and also on my homepage. I have watched all the videos, so now the option to hide them would be great. With the Academy tab in the sidebar, they are only a click away, so they don’t need to be the first thing I see.

Also, there are two particular UI elements which have caught my attention. The chat icon in the bottom right of the main window is one. Unless, I’m missing something, it can’t be turned off. As much as I like the fact that the team are making it clear that they are available to answer questions, the icon sometimes covers UI elements on my 14” MacBook Pro. If the icon must be there, you should give us an option to turn it off. The same functionality is available in the toolbar anyway.

The second UI element that I would like to see change might seem strange. It is the bright yellow upgrade button in the top right of the main window. It bothers me. I own DJ.Studio Pro + Stems. I have never intention of ever using video features, and I have no need for VSTs. In an app as costly as DJ.Studio, having a prominent upgrade button constantly at the top of the screen feels somewhat hostile. It also makes me feel like I am using freeware. I don’t know of any other premium, paid-for app that does this. Sure, you need to upsell, but do it in “Settings” or “Account” like everyone else. That button makes me less likely to upgrade rather than more.

Anyway, thanks for hearing me out. I look forward to seeing this interesting software grow and improve. :)
