I often work In bright environments. being in southern California, I ilke to work outdoors on a beautiful sunny day. gives me energy and inspiration. that said, would love to change to light mode!
Try a white mode application outside first, you may need to stop glare with a hood over at least the monitor. You may need to review your laptop particularly if it has a dim display panel which the high brightness with HDR support is usually a gaming monitor feature.
You may also need to look at your power management for your battery as high brightness could drain your battery quickly and power management may alter display settings when battery gets low.
