Can you elaborate on this thought? What would you expect on this extra lane? How would you solve time? How to visualize it? Would the original track keep on running or would you create “holes” in the timeline?

1 Way it can be done now is via Audition, for example! Of course, requirements then would be the ability to incorporate DJ-gear into DJ Studio! A finished mix can be thrown in a multi-session & with minor adjustments to the settings, the audio signal, of the controller in this case, can be picked up by the sound card!
I myself use a Rane One controller & I achieved this by adjusting the Default Input in Audition to Line 5/6 of the Rane One Controller! This gives me the opportunity to record the scratches on a new track next to the track playing the mix! This is a brief example of an integration I'd love to see in DJ Studio! The lane(s) could contain basic controls like Low, Mid, Hi, Filter, Panning & Volume to be able to adjust the audio signal! What shouldn't be forgotten is of course the possibility to not only be able to Mute & Solo the lane(s), but also to add various additional (VST) FX's! & Finally, a set of tools to be able to cut, copy, paste, pitch & time stretch might come in pretty handy as well!
Adobe has done quite a good job with Audition when it comes to visualizing & I think that your team can do it even better! It's seems like it's only a matter of digging deeper into audio software like Adobe's Audition, to pick out the best elements, that can be included in DJ Studio! But that's how it seems! There's more to the job of course, no doubt!
Keep up the good work!!!

Ehhhh, we will not support DJ controllers or live recording in the DAW. So that's not the direction we can go. We can make a scratch effect if you want and mimique the behaviour.

That’s a shame for us!
Then we’ll have to wait & hope for better times to come!

Maybe it’s a great idea to actually hook up with DJ’s like DJ Premier, DJ Q-Bert & not to be forgotten, the 1 & only DJ Grand Master Flash, for some more in-depth info!
I’ve met the first 2 once & DJ GMF had a show in town last month!
With their knowledge & expertise they might be of great help to your team!
