Auto-suggest tracks for specified set time based on rekordbox playlist

Currently we can select songs and hit automix if we want.

But what would be really groundbreaking for DJ set prepping is if we could for example:

  1. Select a rekordbox playlist (with lets say 300 tracks)

  2. Set desired set time (lets say 1hr)

  3. Set desired max playtime per track (lets say 1.5mins)

Resulting in DJ Studio AI making a selection of approx 40 tracks from that playlist that sound good together and each with a transition within 1.5mins so we get to a 1hr set.

Since automix does millions of possible mixes this removes the limitation of the tracks we put in manually and saves us DJs a lot of time to prep sets.

    Hi,
    Great idea! We are already working on this ;-)

    To be able to do this, DJ.Studio needs to know how to make tracks shorter and still have the transitions sound good.
    We are developing our own Phrase detection mechanism, so DJ.Studio will know which pieces of a track to cut out to make it for example 1.5 mins
    If we have that, the features you mentioned above will come available.

    Seems pretty problematic. How does the AI decide on the 40 tracks which go in the mix? Is it meant to be an energetic mix or a soft mix? Do we want a broad set of genres/styles/tempos or not? Too many ambiguities to see this realistically working as the user intends.

      Correct. But we could help you shorten the tracks. We are now working on phrase detection. You can use a magnet to stick to the blue markers. Setting transitions is ALWAYS good. The next step is to remove parts from the tracks between the blue markers. Then we are really close to your question to shorten tracks automatically ;-)

        Hi Siebrand, first of all thanks for this and bringing DJ Studio where it is now.

        Although @djhazza came with some good variables it might be too much at first and looks to me like more of a waterfall approach.

        However, a simple approach to start with would be to select 10 tracks and let DJ Studio suggest 30 that would match based on meta data.

        Not sure till what extend it’s currently using ai to match tracks, but for a poc this might be a good start.

        Please let me know what you think.
